The myth of man being bewitched by the moon on the night it is full causing his inner beast to be awakened is one that has traveled throughout history due its underlying truths. Sometimes, it takes an uncontrollable force to manumit the true side of a man and Albert Camus explores this concept in his novel The Stranger where the Sun is deemed a potent antagonist in the twist turning life of Monsieur Meursault. Though living comfortably there is a side of Meursault that craves a jump in his life’s flatline and Raymond Sintes comes as the catalyst to the soon to be explosive reaction. Looking to be his friend Raymond confides in Meursault about some of his lady issues were he is being followed by his ex girlfriend Moorish’s brothers due to being violent towards her. When asked to write a luring letter to the girl so Raymond could embarrass her once more Meursault agrees seeing no harm in it and wrote as it came to him. Raymond thanked him and let him know that they were officially pals, and as a token of appreciation invited him to a relaxing day in the Sun at a friend’s beach …show more content…
He now knows and accepts that death is inescapable but rather an elevation to a new world and understand that he never felt pity for Maman because though she was dieing she was going to live it all again. Furthermore understands the role the Sun has played in his awakening that all along it was liberating his inner stranger. Showing Meursault that similar to himself to not be ashamed of his harshness but live it/ accept its, Meursault was meant to be an outsider, a lone wolf, and he will know that he has discovered his life’s purpose while walking towards the guillotine basking in cries of
