Hillary Clinton was the presidential nominee for the Democratic party. Clinton stood as a symbol for change and equality in the election, she stood for the fair treatment of all groups, including women, LGBT, blacks, and middle/low class families. After reviewing the statistics from exit polls conducted by the New York Times from the 2016 United States Presidential Election, it seems that sex, race, age, and party affiliation all played a role in decisions of who to vote for in the election. For example, in this exit poll 41% of men, 54% of women, 37% of Caucasians, 88% of blacks, 89% of democrats, and 7% of Republicans voters voted for Hillary Clinton, while the remaining percentages either voted for Donald Trump or a third-party candidate (Huang, 2016).
