The ruling party’s many values and ideologies mostly relate to control of the country through fear and hateful messages. Fascism is a main ideologies of the part is. Other values of the ruling party are british nationalism, white nationalism, anti-immigration, homophobia, islamophobia, anti-semitism, and anti-american. The ruling party also uses different propaganda techniques to communicate these ideologies. One of the first they us is testimonial. The “Voice of London” or Lewis Prothero, enforces party ideologies on a late night talk show. He casts a Americans, homosexuals, and Muslims and always finishes with“England Prevails” after saying these things. People watch his testimonials believe him and thus believe what he is saying must be true. Another propaganda technique used by the ruling party is name-calling. They link bad ideas to bad people, being gay, muslims, and Americans . The bad people are highlighted in the media to show that bad things, like creating a terrorist attack and are a problem for the citizens. The media furthers the problem by using the propaganda technique of repetition. News reports about terrorists plotting against England and America in shambles. This is then repeated over and over again. The repetition start to lend credibility. Propaganda delivered by mass media is used by the ruling party to control the people's outlook. V is a mass murderer. He knows his victims and selects them based on a need for revenge. V’s killings are personally motivated. We know he has killed at least four people. Serial killers tend to be more distance from their victims. V may have had a psychotic break near the 5th of November which lead to his killing spree and supports that he is a mass murderer. Killing is also a way to get media exposure for V which indicates the cruelty of a mass murderer. Overall V, knew all of his victims, wanted media attention, killed more that four people thus making him more of a mass murder that a serial killer. The best theory that describe V’s deviance is Differential Association theory. He learnt how to kill and lost his ability to sympathize while at Larkside.The torture hardened his heart while the torture also taught him how to hurt first hand. Therefore, deviant actions were a result of his ordeal. V also state s“he wants to meet his creator” supporting the idea his actions were learnt from someone. His motives for his criminal behavior also stem from Larkside and the immoral activities he witnessed. Therefore the best theory to describe why V is deviant is Differential Association theory. A Conflict theorist would assert that this society has become a dystopia because the people in power use the control to further their own interests.

Adam Sutler takes control of the government after a big war. In order to do so, he used force. He dropped a virus on England and killing over 80,000 people scared them and the panic allowed him to take over. He used the virus to forward his own interests by taking power. He further gains great wealth by selling the drug that cured this virus. This provided him power and control over the people in England. The fear further created a dystopia where one man was in charge. In order to maintain this control he started to remove people that didn’t fit his vision. He removed anyone who wasn’t white, British, straight, and who supported his politics. He killed them, sent them to camps to be tortured, and used them in medical experiments. This gave him more power because his government was never challenged. People become afraid to be different from a norm.They don’t fight back.. A conflict theorist see this as evidence of a dystopia. The powerful use of resources to pursue their own interests against the have nots who have no resources to support theirs. This society became a dystopia because of the horrible actions one or more groups suffered at the hands of government. The majority felt afraid and powerless to act. V was tortured and remembered nothing of who he was and wanted revenge.
