This organization is a member of the Feeding America and is a statewide nonprofit agency whose main goal is to address the problem of hunger and homelessness in a community. Their mission is to provide foods for people, specifically the Delawareans. They inform different communities about hunger issues and food securities to prevent further poverty and to ask for help. So, every year, Padua sophomores would go down to Camden, New Jersey and help to volunteer at a Catholic School. I was a sophomore during this year, and I went down to Camden, New Jersey with the other Padua sophomores. Before I got to Camden, I didn’t know what to expect, but from what I heard, Camden was a very poor city with high crime rates and drug use. Although I was excited and scared, I was willing to do anything to help and share my time and talent to serve the people in Camden. For examples, during my Camden day, I spent most of the morning doing yard work. I was praised a lot for being good at doing yard work. Because of this, I shared my talent and time to make the school look prettier, and make a better environment for the children that goes to the school. I was glad that I was able to help, and help those children. The experience in Camden motivated me to serve more, and it also made me realize that compared to those who live in Camden, I live in a much better environment. This is why I should treasure every moment and everything I have now because there are others out there in the world who do not have what I

For my sixty hours of volunteer work I decided to volunteer at a Child Life Center which was in a poverty stricken area in Norfolk, Va. At the child life center my job as a volunteer was to assist the children with their homework, help the staff monitor the children on local field trips, as well as serve as a positive role model for the children. The experience I had at Park Place Child Life Center was one I will honestly never forget. Although I didn’t get any actual counseling experience, I was able to learn the ways that the non-profit organization received their funding, I was able to gain experience in working with the youth, and I was also able to make a positive impact on the lives of children who were considered “at-risk youth”. To go there every day and be able to see the change the children had in their behaviors and how much just some attention and affection from adults impacted their behaviors was honestly amazing.…

We must nurture new disciples, as seen in Matthew 28:19-20. It is important to teach these individuals of why and how to relate the Bible as the revelation of God in matters of life, salvation, kingdom work and theology. This is vital to the new believers, because they must learn how they view God and his response to their lives; as well as to their response to the world. Through discipleship believers learn how to communicate God’s love to those who are lost and without love. They also learn how to convey God’s incarnational love to…

Ronald Witherup discusses the threefold priestly ministry by using three analogies: the priest as poet, sage, and teacher. However, three chapters seem to be only preaching-and-teaching oriented. He mentions the expected order of vocabulary in PDV #26: “the ministry of word, sacrament and pastoral charity” to match with the order of the threefold roles: prophet, priest, and king. The three analogies help to re-imagine a concrete picture of priestly expectation for the ministry of the Word. It is interesting enough to see the expectations developed in priestly models today because when Jesus chooses disciples, they are all ordinary people without specialty/competence at all.…
