In “The Raven” by Edgar Allen Poe there is a similarity between the two dealing with ghosts in both Morgenstern and Poe’s gothic stories. The quote that best supports this claim is when it says “And the only word there spoken was the whispered word Lenore” (Poe 438). This quote is portraying how Lenore was shown as a ghost, which was haunting the man.
Also, lots of ambiguity and mystery is involved in “Fall of the house of usher” and Night Circus. You can tell in the short story by the quote “I know not how it is—but, with the first glimpse of a building, a sense of insufferable gloom pervaded within my spirit.” (Poe 412) Its also is a common …show more content…
Morgenstern adds great detail and writes to make it feel as if readers were standing in the scene. Giving a visual aspect to the book that needed to be added.
Both have a great amount of dream scenes in both books but mainly relating to night circus it is portrayed in the early going of the book between the two lovers. There also are fascinations with the past in Night Circus when it says, “I have tried to let you go and I cannot. I cannot stop thinking of you, I cannot stop dreaming of you.”(Morgenstern 215) In the last quote, the author wants to show readers that the two lovers of the circus are insufferable for each other.
