Numerous deaths and/or injuries can be avoided if people wore helmets. There are multiple reasons as to why they don’t, like, opposition to helmet laws by government interference is just one. If the becomes a federal law for helmets to be worn, then legislators feel that they are overriding state laws.
Economically, if riders were to wear their helmets, despite states having a universal law, it would save this country $3 billion dollars per year. A reduction like this would also help with reducing insurance and medical costs as well. If states had the universal helmet laws, it would save lives as well as money. This will also reduce the number of injuries as well. According to the CDC, helmets have saved 1630 lives and could save the United States an additional $1.1 billion in 2013 if all motorcyclists worn helmets. Deaths would be reduced by 37% and head injury by 69%. Motorcycle cost are not just measured in bodies, but it costs the states money for the use of emergency responders and increase burden of medical costs. Helmets not only protect against head injuries but also protects against the elements of
