The Pros And Cons Of Gun Control Laws

States have started legalizing guns but, is it worth it? The literal definition of gun is, “a weapon incorporating a metal tube from which bullets, shells, or other missiles are propelled by explosive force, typically making a characteristic loud, sharp noise”. The accurate definition of weapon is “A thing designed or used for inflicting bodily harm or physical damage”. Do we really need something that inflicts bodily harm to each other? Though, guns have saved many people if you compare it to the amount of people using it an abominable ways the ratio to saving and to evil ways is massively on evil ways. Gun laws should be controlled to save innocent people from being shot and killed. Mass shootings the epitome of hurting innocent people. On average out of 206 out 336 days this year there have been shootings that have four or more people dead/injured. (The New York Times, 2 Dec. 2015. Web. 11 Dec. 2015) Guns are so easy to get now that after 25 days and backgrounds check you can get a license and buy one from a shop. Many people have been approved and have caused mass shooting for example Christopher Harper-Mercer a 26 year old who killed nine people at community college in Oregon, Christopher bought 14 fire arms all legally and some were bought by his family. After buying these gun after a brief amount of time he launched his attacks in Roseburg, Ore. Christopher was in the army for a mere month before he was discharged. He also went to Switzer Learning Center that teaches kids with learning disabilities and emotional problems. Christopher was emotionally unstable yet they still approved for a gun. This is just one of the many cases in which approved guns have gotten into the hands of mentally ill people. Speaking about, mentally ill people stalkers, rapist , and murders. These people of society are not very uncommon and how are men/woman supposed to protect themselves if guns are involved? Parents who own guns might think there protecting their children, but in actuality kids are in more danger. There have been many case of accidental deaths of children being kilt by guns that their parents or even guns that their parents approve them to own. On average 62 children age 14 and younger died from accidental shootings. This was caused by careless parents leaving out guns out or telling a irresponsible child the code to the safe. Many cases of accidental shooting are a child shooting another child and the child shooting himself. Not just children make the mistake of accidental shots many adults make the mistake of shooting without thinking of the consequences and hit a bystander. If the parents are responsible and hide the guns so they can protect their children there is no problem. Well there is usually when you hide something is hard to get/ find well even if the criminal attacks 1. You might not be able to get the gun to protect your family, 2. The child will still have a chance of getting a hold of the gun, and 3. Only .79% of victims even use these guns in self-defense. The emotional stress of having a child or parent die is so great it might as well make the parent/ child go crazy and start using the gun in evil
