Reflection On Hypothyroidism

Meagan was in the room and I kept thinking about what she would think of me, I wondered if it was even legal to pray with this mom, I was hesitant because I didn’t want to say anything wrong to make her more sad or be a bad representation of Christ, I reasoned that it would be just as meaningful and powerful if I simply prayed to Jesus myself without saying anything out loud… it felt like there were so many reasons not to pray! I asked the Lord for courage. A prayer I often pray is, “Make me bold, give me strength, and keep me humble.” This is the prayer I prayed over myself in that moment. Jesus was still asking me to pray for V.R.’s mom as she finished talking. With the courage that God gave me, I asked her if it would be ok for me to pray …show more content…
Even though it may seem small, I feel accomplished in my decision and action. Furthermore, I performed a lot of critical thinking between these two shifts. V.R.’s hypothyroidism provided me many opportunities to think through several nursing care plans and interventions. I identified causes for the abnormal labs and discussed the following actions that were implemented. I learned a great deal about courage from the book we are reading in class. Bowling quoted Einar Kloster, the president and CEO of Philips Lighting when he said, “Courage to follow through on your own convictions is critical.” Bowling then continued on to say, “Only when you have the courage of your convictions can you effectively follow your knows” (Bowling, 2001). In this case, I felt the conviction to pray for V.R.’s mother. I knew that was something the Lord was asking me to do, but I was lacking the courage to carry it out. Only after God gave me the courage of my conviction was I able to take the leap of faith and effectively follow “my know.” This process is something I hope to consistently allow God to take me through when I feel unable to follow “my

Give examples of how the practice of ministry has affected your experience and understanding of A) God At the core of my understanding of God is a God of love in covenantal relationship with God’s children. Romans 8:38-39 says it well; “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The practice of ministry has only proven to strengthen that belief. I was called early Saturday morning to sit with a family who had just learned of the death of their daughter/granddaughter in a vehicle accident.…

At my most vulnerable, I was having to fill the role of teacher and leader, teaching people how to walk with others through a difficult situation. I learned how important it is to be authentic. I had to let them be part of the grieving and healing process, showing weakness, strength, and reliance on God. My prayer is that God used this journey as an example for others, that they would see our source of strength and hope, that life could again be filled with joy, and most importantly that they would see Jesus through…

October 12th. The day that I,Heather Kubel, a freshman at Sierra Lutheran High School, would have embedded in my memory forever. The day that I will always be able to remember the exact details, despite the shudder that would come from recalling it. I had had a pretty basic life up to now. I had an older brother in college and two parents who had taken me to church every Sunday since I was a little girl; despite the fact that my father and the rest of my family were Jewish.…

Leadership on the line by Ronald A. Heifetz and Marty Linksys is a very timely book. Maggie’s description of her Indian community and the effects of alcohol made me think of many urban communities and the pain that lurks in those communities. The stories she shares about Lois and the heart she had for her community and desire to make it better make you think we need more leaders like that. Lois leadership inspired me because she saw something wrong in her community she believed she could bring change. Lois is a good picture of servanthood she doesn’t sit and think someone should so something…

It is the strength of God that help to carry on and move forward. Prayer is powerful. God does not always answer us when we want Him to, but He does hear us and in His time He will move on what we ask Him for. Personally, my decisions have not always been led by God, but I do frequently ask Him for guidance and for His advice. When I do something that is not of his liking, I talk to God about it and ask Him to help me through the situation and ask for forgiveness.…
