The Peons-Personal Narrative

I must use caution though, it would seem this petty band is equipped with weapons made of silver, oh dear, Fredrick must really have taken that drinking incident personally to put so much effort into robbing me. I suppose it's time to remind him of why my realm is much larger than his! Sure my quiver is near empty from dealing with a few would be assassins earlier this evening, but twelve arrows will suffice for this ploy of mine. Twelve arrows with my signature blood soaked feathers, inscribed with my initials glowing like a lamp. As an added challenge, I won't need a single arrow to kill, this night, my blades are the only weapons allowed to draw blood. Speaking of blood, I really should take a bite out of one of these peons. Much time …show more content…
Surely there must be some silver back wolves roaming about, playing games with their prey. Or maybe a grizzly bear or two. Or maybe I can turn the wolves and the bears on each other, the ensuing clash of howls and roars would draw a fraction of the fools away, why not? Not more than a second after coming up with such a plan do I see a lone individual stray from the encampment, away from the comfort, away from the safety, away, from the sight of her companions. A new master plan comes to mind, yes, a plan to eclipse all others, a plan in which this young woman is the catalyst of the entire thing, what could Fredrick have been thinking sending her …show more content…
Taking this time to allow my ears to finally find some use; listening to how the rings of her chainmail scrape and ring sharply against each other. She is making this far too easy for me, yes, even if I were to put my eyes to rest she still could be found. My moment finally arrives when the familiar sounds of running urine strike my ears like burning oil. My descent shall be and methodical. A gentle climb down my current tree, continuing my approach of silence within the shadow of the O so beautiful dark. It rewards my fiendish self by allowing the overgrowth to have grown so wild in the recent months like a steadily growing flame, brushes spiraling densely like a thick shadow. Within it I shall set my plot into motion, starting with this broad shouldered woman here. The melody of her voice more specifically, because she is to be the diva to this little opera of

The Lady of Shalott: Tantalus’s Daughter Alfred Lord Tennyson is a Victorian poet who seldom strays out of narrative territory. His poems are stories, and “The Lady of Shalott” is no exception. The Lady of Shalott, for whom the poem is titled after, is a heartbreaking heroine who spends most of her life locked away in a tower, only to finally emerge and softly depart from the world. In the short span of four parts, her tale spans the themes of dreams, imprisonment, misogyny, and death. Not only does the Lady of Shalott’s story carry visual representations of the daily struggles both contemporary and historical women are subjected to, but also her plight is reminiscent of mythological figure Tantalus’s torture.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

The Boys and Girls Club, has brought so many opportunities into my life that have shaped me into the strong, hard working, role model I am today. At my club, I enjoy the luxury of the teen side with my friends, and participate in many leadership programs, such as Torch Club and now Keystone. I set an example for those looking up to me, and have even gotten the chance to mentor younger kids/help out my community by donating to numerous homeless shelters, and going to the accompany the seniors at senior homes. My actions haven’t always seemed to be one of a leader's, and my life at the club hasn’t always been so wonderful either.…

Gender inequality is a key issue within Hamlet as both Gertrude and Ophelia, the main females of Shakespeare’s play, are portrayed as dependent, submissive, and weak. This is done in order for Shakespeare to express his opinion that women of the Elizabethan period in which he lived in were required, without any choice, to be dependent on men, submissive, and not powerful as the era “treated women as objects” (Lopez, 1). To begin, Shakespeare shows the characterization of women through Gertrude as she remarried immediately after King Hamlet’s death. This was most likely to keep her status of Queen in the Elizabethan era as “all titles would pass from father to son or brother to brother, depending on the circumstances” (Elizabethi, 5). This can…

The sun’s burning rays beat down on us as we dug through the layers of Egyptian sand and rock. We had only begun the excavation the previous day and had already uncovered one-fifth of the ancient pyramid. I, as well as a team of high-ranking archaeologists, had accompanied Sarah Parcak in an expedition to unearth a lost Egyptian pyramid. “How’s your section of the chamber coming along, Erica? We’ve just uncovered a new sarcophagus,” remarked Sarah as she passed by, carrying a large coffin.…

Horror as a literary genre is written with the aim of instilling feelings of terror, dread, disgust, or some combination of these emotions in its audience. This literature does so by capturing in its climactic scenes a fear found in all humans and centering action on the fruition of this fear. Edgar Allan Poe’s Ligeia focuses on the return of the fair Ligeia from the grave, an unnatural occurrence that shocks and horrifies its audience, but it is particularly shocking to the narrator of the tale for reasons other than his deceased bride’s unexpected resurrection. It can be posited that the narrator in Ligeia has formed a masochistic relationship with Ligeia. The ultimate moment of horror lies in Ligeia’s return not because she was once deceased,…

Hallowed Affliction The author of a medieval lay takes on the challenge of convincing an audience to open their minds to the mystical and suspend disbelief. The medieval lay, a poetic work usually put to music, often asks people to actively take away the themes, criticisms, and messages from magical and mythical stories. In its written form, the lay retains its song-like quality and utilizes a plethora of poetic devices in order to convey its meaning. Sir Orfeo, written by an unknown author, employs a variety of poetic devices to immerse the audience in the tale and evoke a myriad of pathos.…
