Younger siblings strive to be like them. They want to walk, talk, and act like them. They look up to their oldest sibling every second of every day. However, this comes with consequences. So when the oldest does something that is not the right decision, it will never be questioned by the youngest. Tony loves the game, and this leads to Wes loving the game. Even with Tony constantly pestering him to stay away from it, this did not stop his younger brother. Wes understood this was not the ideal way to be making money, and the consequences could be extreme, but Tony was doing it. He thought he could do it, too. “He knew what game this was, the same game that had consumed Tony. the same game Tony continually urged Wes to stay out of” (58). Tony was shoulder-deep in the game, but Wes could still walk out, he could save himself. Instead, he got into it as deep as Tony, he kept getting pulled out further and further until the game was his life. Even with Tony’s concerns, Wes continued to play. He dropped out of school, never saw his child, and was rarely at home, but every day he would deal. He had no motivation to do anything besides that, he had gotten consumed like Tony was trying to prevent. Tony spent all his time telling him what to do, but his actions did not meet his expectations. Wes was deaf to Tony’s message, but he could follow his lead.
