With all of these benefits, we will also be able to better handle catastrophes such as droughts, floods, hurricanes, as well as other natural disasters. Technology has advanced greatly since the 1800’s and it’s safe to say that technology will continue to advance at a similar pace. Also, as wealthy countries become wealthier, they will be better able to repair their home country after these natural disasters take place. So, even if something bad such as a decrease in food supply were to happen as a result of global warming, we would be better able to cope with these negative effects according to Moore. A majority of the ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions will cost a substantial amount of money and are not sufficient in decreasing these greenhouse gas emissions. Even though many alternative sources of energy exist (biofuels, wind power and solar power), they prove to be more expensive than traditional sources of energy. Schnoor asserts that the human race will eventually (either sooner or later) cease to exist if greenhouse gas emissions are not reduced. Moore asserts that even though global warming will create benefits for most of the world, greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced due to one simple reason: “rising sea levels” (Moore S42). Many island nations will cease to exist due to rising sea levels if greenhouse gases continue to be emitted at current rates. According to Schnoor, we have a moral obligation to cut back on our greenhouse emissions in order to make sure that these island nations can
