The Burmese python is from Southeast Asia, however you can find them in other parts of the world. The snake species can also be found in Florida. But do we really want them to be there? The pythons have had a very negative impact on Florida's ecosystem and environment.

Main idea (changes in Burmese pythons) : Pythons are indigenous to Southeast Asia, so how did they get to Florida? Thanks to the exotic pet market, and its easy access, pythons are the new pet. Who doesn’t love python right? The python owners soon learned they bit off more than they could chew and when things got hard, they cut the snakes off. The pythons were, as stated in Florida’s Python Hunt, “turned loose by their owners when they became too big.” After escaping their ignorant owners, the snakes began to blemish Florida’s ecosystem. As stated in Florida’s Python Hunt, Tens of thousands of the pythons are invading the Evergreens and the population continues to advance. As the pythons advanced, so did their damage to the ecosystem.

For example, their food chains, as stated in Florida’s Python Hunt, “..these eating machines appear to be wiping out huge numbers of possums, raccoons, bobcats, as well as many bird species.” The food chains are getting scrambled up due to the fact the pythons are eating everything in sight. The pythons are not just damaging the food chains, but the environment as well. They are very big animals, and if there are a lot in one place, then they’re most likely overwhelming the environment.
