The settings, themes, moods, and conflicts in both stories were almost the same. For example, they both took place in a small town. The Andy Griffith Show takes place in a small town of Mayberry. Meanwhile in “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street” the setting is on Maple Street, U.S.A. The mood is similar in some instances because they both start off peacefully but soon become creepy and even frightening. This paragraph described how the setting, mood were similar in both stories, but the themes and conflicts were alike too.

For example, the complications in “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street” were much more severe. In “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street,” Pete Van Horn is shot and killed. That is much more severe than the small dispute/argument that happened in The Andy Griffith Show.
