Jesus was the Son of God and He had been raised from the dead. Jesus sent the apostles out on the Great Commission, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen” (Matthew 28:19, 20). They went out and everywhere, with the Holy Spirit working through them performing many signs and wonders confirming the word of God they had spoken “And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen” (Mark 16:20). The New Testament had not been written so miracles confirmed the gospel that was preached by the apostles. The miracles served as evidence, that support the divine authority by which they proclaimed Christ. Miracles were the supernatural proof that established the truth of the gospel, that Christ Jesus is Lord and Savior of all. He was crucified on the cross and was resurrected from the dead after three days “Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you — unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve.
