Reverend Hooper who our parable is primarily about is a parson from Salem, Massachusetts. Mr. Hooper walks around wearing a black veil which symbolizes something much darker than the townspeople believe. I believe that the black veil symbolizes something very important to Mr. Hooper and a main key to this story. My question is what historical events or movements might have influenced this writer?
