To begin with, both had the families draw alphabetical order. They called each family by their last name. Next Davie helped stone Tessie. Davie was given a rock to throw at Tessie. Also Mr. Graves and his son, Baxter helped Mr. summers with the black box. Mr. Graves and Baxter held the black box as Mr. Summers stirred the papers.
There were many differences between the short story and the movie The Lottery. To start in the story Tessie was stoned in different spots. In the story she was stoned in a spot with tall grass. In the movie she was against a shed. Next in the story Davie was given pebbles. In the movie the was given a rock the biggest rock. Lastly there was no mention of the Summers coal mine in the movie. In the story, Mr.Summers mentioned his coal mine and said”let’s get this done so we can get back to work”.
