Courageous, not deterred by danger or pain; brave. In the book The Lightning Thief, Rick Riordan, the author, shows the path of a hero’s journey through the characters. On the road to greatness, Percy Jackson, the protagonist, overcomes many obstacles.

Throughout The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan, Percy faces many unusual creatures. One of those creatures was the Minotaur. Percy fights the Minotaur, a huge beast that is part man part bull after his car gets struck by lighting and goes into a ditch, while on his way to Camp Half-Blood. “In a flash of lightning, through the mud-spattered rear windshield, I saw a figure lumbering toward us on the shoulder of the road.” (Riordan, pg. 48) He has to fight the Minotaur to save his mother,
