The population of Union County is 69.8% Caucasian and 29.9% is African American (Pergament). There are many industrial and manufacturing plants located in these towns which…
Massey, we read of the ways we enforce immigration laws and how they form an institution. There are 50.5 Million Latinos in the U.S. making them the largest minority group here. Blacks make 10.3% of the population and are outnumbered by Latinos by about 6%. Racialization of Latinos goes as far back as 1848 when the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was signed into effect and it bought 50,000 Mexican people into the country. Immediately people began to discriminate against them.…
Whites often also move out of areas with high concentrations of Latinos (or other minorities for that matter), thus further concentrating neighborhoods with large Latino…
Texas growing and diversifying quickly. In the ten-year span between 2000-2010 Texas had a population increase of 4,293,741(United States Census Bureau). Of this population increase those of Hispanic ethnicity make up sixty-five percent, while the current majority of non-Hispanic whites make up just under eleven percent of the change (Texas Counties Videos). During this time there was an increase in African American by twelve percent, Asian by nine percent, leaving Non-Hispanic other making up just under three percent of the population change (Texas Counties Videos). These statistics suggest by the year ---- those of Hispanic ethnicity will become the majority in Texas and by the year – they will be the majority in the United states.…
On June 16, 2015 when you announced that you were running for president, you shocked the nation. Starting off your presidential campaign by dehumanizing and alienating the entire Latino race was a great tactic to get attention from the media. It is shameful that someone like you, when trying to be the next leader of the United States, would make such arrogant speeches and expect to win. What are you going to do next? Will you make fun of African Americans, Asians, Middle Eastern and Europeans saying that the white race is superior?…
Furthermore, according to these projections the Caucasian population is expected to decline while other minority groups will increase by the year 2050. The State of Kentucky may also follow this trend, but it will take longer; perhaps by the end of the century because of less minority population residing in Kentucky (Population Projections, 2013). Statistics indicate that within the last decade only ten counties in Kentucky had a decline in Hispanic population though Hispanic growth was much more pervasive throughout the remaining counties. Kentucky’s Hispanic population consists of about 3% of the State’s total population, recorded as 132,836.…
For my article I decided to write about crime issues involving Latinos. I decided to read about Why the deaths of Latinos at the hands of police haven’t drawn as much attention. By Nicole Santa Cruz, Ruben Vives and Marisa Gerber. This article talks about how a guy named Ramirez never saw police as a threat, he saw them with respect because they wore a uniform and they took care of us. Ramirez then had another perspective of police when they killed his brother.…
We have had numerous racial issues through out history. But during the late 1960s the Latino students of the LA school districts stood up for their rights to be treated equal and with dignity. Over the years when people would hear about the Chícano movement they wanted to know what were the problems with the LA schools, how are the LA schools during that time similar or different to the schools we have today, and what held the high school students back? During the Chícano movement in LA during 1968 the schools had numerous problems.…
Since 2012 the number of eligible Latino voters has increased by four million, where the increase in Latino voting registration was due to the “Trump anxiety”, where many were afraid of what type of laws would be implemented in Donald Trump won the election due to his negative perspective on immigration. He referred to Mexicans as criminals, rapists and endorsed President Dwight David Eisenhower’s Operation Wetback, which removed undocumented immigrants in a harsh and inhuman manner, as a way to reduce the number of immigrants in the United States with the instigation of a deportation force. This spurred the Latino community to become more involved in the election by not only registering to vote but motivating other to do so and speak up on the behalf of the eleven million immigrants who could not – that resulted with an increase of Latino voters in the 2016 election, 13.1 million to 14.7 million Latinos casted their vote, which was an increase from the 2002 election. It was reported that approximately, seventy –nine of Latino voter where in favor of Hillary Clinton becoming the next president because she was focused on equality or all to reuniting our nation and getting rid of social barriers that divided our nation.…
As a fan of politics, and an active watcher of the manipulative brainwashing people like to call news, I consider voting to be a big deal. Latinos make up a large portion of our United States population and I find it quite remarkable that there is such a burden on the Latino voters in this nation. In my opinion, I think votes coming from minorities, are the most significant. They are what give America, its so called “melting pot” aura. Without those voters, there are still issues out there directing towards those people that need to be dealt with, otherwise they won’t even get the chance to be here to have to deal with them anymore, if you get what I’m implying.…
Making up fifteen percent of the population, hispanics count for a large portion of the population.…
That number is projected to more than triple by the year 2050! Florida alone is home to 5 million Hispanics. When we get a little closer to home in Hillsborough County, we can account for 1.5 million Hispanics and in Tampa, there are 350,000 Hispanics whose dedications…
Throughought the history of the United Sates after the colonization period, minority groups have suffered through appalling circumstances mandated by White Americans. They were targeted for discrimination at early ages regardless of gender, and these acumens varied from verbal confrontations to violent deaths. The reasons as to why minority groups had to undergo these preposterous events were only because of the difference of skin color and distinct language. One specific group that agonized during the 1800’s were Mexican Americans. Before taking over California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico, this was Mexico’s undisturbed territory (1).…
According to Philip’s Cohen’s “The Family: Diversity, Inequality, and Social Change”, the White population has decreased from just about 80% in 1970 to just over 60% in 2010. The White population is predicted to go down to slightly less than 50% by 2050. One group that has been drastically increasing is Latinos. The Latino population was just under 5% of the population in 1970, but has grown to over 10% . This group is predicted to make up around 30% of our population by 2050.…
Demographic Information The most recent United States census was in 2010, and reported that 16 percent of the overall population was Latino, with Mexicans as the highest ethnic group. The Latino population grew by 43 percent in the U.S from 2000 and 2010. It is also projected that by 2060 the Latino population will be 28.6 percent of the overall U.S population. The majority of Latinos live in the west and south, and with lower percentages in the Northeast and Midwest.…
