this wonderful, mesmerizing, emotional story takes place in three different cities namely Kabul, california, fresmont and then back to kabul. it takes place during the 70s slowly progressing till 98. the story potrays betrayals by the protagonist but then the second half of the book offers him the redemption required. amir, the protagonist of this book lives in a posh house in kabul with his baba, two servants hasan and ali.hasan andali are father son duo. amir has a hobby of flying kites and competing in the neighbourhood. hasan collects the kites that are brought down by amir. amir is always jealous by the fact that his father cares more about hasan and favours him . one day during kite festival amir cuts

But it's not so easy. Sohrab isn't in the orphanage – a Talib official, who's also a pedophile, and who also happens to be that vile Assef, is keeping Sohrab in his home. Amir, in his first really, really courageous act of the novel, faces off with Assef mano a mano. (We mean this very literally: Assef and Amir fight each other in hand-to-hand combat to determine the fate of Sohrab.) Amir is no match for Assef, who, to be fair, is also using brass knuckles. But lo and behold! Sohrab, like Hassan before him, is a whiz with the slingshot. Sohrab nails Assef right in the eye, blinding him. Amir and Sohrab escape. Amir wants to take Sohrab with him to America. There's one hitch: it's almost impossible to do adopt Sohrab since no death certificates exist for Hassan and Farzana.. sohrab is a very silent kid. one day amir,soraya and go out to fly kites. Although Sohrab shows no signs of answer when Amir asks if he wants to hold the string, Sohrab does take string in his hands. It's a big moment for amir.A green kite coming closing in. Sohrab gives the string to Amir and Amir, confidently, says he will teach the green kite a lesson.While Sohrab holds spool, Amir does Hassan's "old lift-and-dive" trick. Amir transports back to Kabul – Hassan, crows, mulberries, sawdust, and Ali dragging his foot. Amir cuts the green kite! The people watching clap. Sohrab smiles slightly.
