Serenity Prayer Research Paper

Let me start by offering a little prayer that I say a lot and has been very helpful to me. It is called the serenity prayer. I’m not here to discuss your religious beliefs, but it is a prayer that I use as a way of reminding myself I can’t control everything nor should I try. Trying to control people, places and things will probably only lead to frustration and unhappiness. Try saying it once with me, God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. The wisdom to know the difference about the things I can change and understanding those people, places and things which I have absolutely no power over, it is a great way to center my thinking before …show more content…
Hopefully the information in this book when properly aligned in your life will help you for many years to come. I believe that “lack of power is our dilemma” not a lack of knowledge. How do I gain the power to do the things I know I should do? Good question. Life is full of opposite logic and I will share some opposite logic with you referencing the previous statement. Sometimes you have to surrender to win! Surrender to win? Yes, we may need to quit fighting a battle that life has shown us we just can’t win and don’t have the power to. But some people will not give up and spend their whole life fighting things they will never be able to overcome alone or with their present line of thinking. Life is fought between our ears. When I can begin to understand that all my issues in life start with me and no one else I am on my way to being a free and powerful person. This is not saying that we have not been wronged or done dirty as some might say, but first let me look at myself because at the end of the day I have to live with how I feel. Carrying around life’s unnecessary baggage can weigh me down and deem me ineffective. We need to learn how to empower our lives again and to utilize the information we already possess, along with any new and enlightened information we may acquire on the road the wellness. Please keep an open mind, that is key to this process. A person who knows it all can’t learn anything. Keeping an “open mind” has been key in my transformation. How do we do that you might ask? H.O.W is exactly right, H is for “honesty”, O is for “open minded” W is for the “willingness”. If you incorporate all three to greater or lesser degrees along with an honest desire to change you are at the best possible beginning to your marvelous journey of true change. I thought I knew everything for a long time and it just kept me in the dark much longer than I needed to
