God will give you the utterance to speak in tongues if and only if it will be of great benefit to the people around you. The genuine speaking in tongues from God has no pride and does not cause confusion or distraction in the House of the Lord.
Act chapter 10 verses 44 say: “Even as Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who had heard the message.” This shows that the Holy Spirit can also manifest during preaching or sharing the word of God.

And the Jews present at the scenario heard their language from the mouth of the Gentiles. God allowed this event to happen so that the Jews would believe that salvation is for all nations. That was the reason Peter said in Act chapter 10 verse 47: “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”

They speak nonsense from their mouth to disguise speaking in tongues!! Some of them attend ‘school of speaking in tongues’ and the false teachers teach them languages that do not originate from the Holy Spirit.
Speaking in tongues is strictly an utterance given by the Spirit of God. It cannot be learnt from any teacher (in the school of theology) or book author.
Thus, don’t give-in to false doctrine which compels you to speak in tongues. Your first encounter with the Holy Spirit might not necessarily lead to speaking in tongues. For instance, when Jesus Christ was baptized with the Holy Spirit, He did not speak in tongues. Do not feel intimated if you can’t speak in tongues. There are other wonderful gifts the Holy Spirit can manifest through you.
However, the presence of Holy Spirit in a church does not imply speaking in tongues. A practical example was the crusades conducted by Paul and Timothy.
Act chapter 16 verse 4 and 5 say: “Then they went from town to town, explaining the decision regarding the commandments that were to be obeyed, as decided by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem. So the churches were strengthened in their faith and grew daily in
