Skipping Breakfast Is a Bad Idea “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day” Has anyone ever heard this sentence before? It is commonly said by a lot of people. The purpose of creating this sentence, at first, is for promoting and encouraging people to buy cereals. Even though it was used for advertising in the past, the recent studies have proved that breakfast is important especially for students. Therefore, it is suggested that students should not skip breakfast due to the fact that it can lead to higher risk of several health problems, it is the cause of bad educational improvement, and it can lower ability of controlling weight. First, skipping breakfast can lead to higher risk of health problems. For example, heart disease, strokes, high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity. It may be argued that it is impossible that the time of eating meals can lead to health problems. However, the recent scientific studies have shown that the importance of eating time is equal as the importance of what someone eats (American Heart Association, 2017, as cited in Alexander, 2017). It was found that breakfast skippers are more likely to have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity and diabetes more than breakfast eaters as they will look for …show more content…
Some studies reported that having breakfast does not help anyone lose weight. However, it helps people to control their weight effectively. Wyatt et al. (2002) stated that eating breakfast may be beneficial in controlling weight by the following reasons: first, skipping breakfast may increase the hunger and it will lead to overeating later. Team (2016) also had similar thought as the previous statement and suggested people who wanted to lose weight that they should keep breakfast in their to-do list. It can be said that skipping breakfast will cause overeating in the next meal. So, having breakfast will be effective for people who want to control
