Methods of Sterilization
A. Physical methods.
1. Heat is the most widely used physical method of sterilisation. It is used for the destruction of micro-organisms on infected articles, pathological materials and animal carcases.
i. Dry heating
a. Incinerators: burns organisms and infected materials and destroys them. It is normally used for needles, inoculating wires, glassware, culture plates.
b. Flaming: this method is used to flame inoculating loops, necks of bottles, holding forceps
