In this current generation, managing people has never been highly important compared to the past through the variety of processes to handle human resources with the drastic changed in human’s behaviour and mentality over the past few decades due to external factors that keeps expanding yearly. Issues on proper people management have been an eminent issue that businesses are dealing with every day and furthermore, literature from renowned leading businessmen has announced that “People are our most important asset” (Burke, 2006; Mayo, 2001). Without having any proper employees, the business will suffer as the employees are unable to do what the company wants them to. Hence HRM helps to do manpower planning as well. During recruitment, they are also able to be on the right path in knowing exactly what kind of employee the company requires (Wilton, 2013). They are aware of this as they are the ones drawing up the job description, handling the recruitment process and taking care of the training and development (Wilton, 2013) after hiring the new employee as well. Whatever problems they may be facing, the HR tries to work out solutions (Mabey, Salaman and Storey, 1998), and in improve work performance. Another way of finding out work-related or personal problems is through carrying out performance appraisals held every few months (Wilton, 2013) which helps employees to voice out problems and changes could be made to improve their performance and job satisfaction. Performance appraisals also help in recognising successful employees and reward them.
