Professionally speaking, my college does not jump off the page on my resume. The University at Albany may not be recognized nationally, however I received a top-notch education and gained the knowledge that has led to my professional and personal success. After graduating, like most college graduates I had to take an entry-level job outside their chosen field. Rather than letting that set me back, my work ethic, drive and passion for being better allowed me to excel. Promoted twice in the 5 years, I spent at Best Cleaners in New York. I went from an entry-level employee to the director of the Department within a period of 5 years. Simply put, I did what no one else was willing to do – do the extra work that was needed to advance. During this time, when my professional career was begging to take shape, my personal goals were coming into focus. At this time I was a graduate assistant for the Men’s Hockey team at the University at Albany. My main role with the team was recruiting, which was very time consuming; I had long hours and the role was almost always was thankless. My work ethic, drive and passion are the reasons that I excelled, and went from being an unpaid recruiter to being promoted to a paying job as an assistant coach. Now, nothing has changed in how I approach the new role and 2 years later, I was promoted again to Head Coach of the Men’s Ice hockey team for the University at Albany. My work ethic, drive and passion are what allowed me to excel from an entry-level employee to the Director of the Department in less than 5 years. My work ethic, drive and passion are also what took me from an unpaid recruiter at the University at Albany to the Head Coach of the Men’s program. An MBA from CSU global, combined with my work ethic, drive and passion would be an unstoppable force. An MBA from CSU Global would not only contribute to my long-term goals. It would also be the catalyst to get me to my long-term goals. Professionally speaking, my long-term goals are two different goals, but very similar. The first goal is to be a Director of Operations of a startup or smaller company. The reasoning behind this is simple: I want to be engaged in the performance management, as this is what I am best at personally and professionally. The second goal is to be a project manager for a larger company, mainly for the same reason. It would allow me to be engaged with the knowledge and decision making power to affect the company in the most positive way. Regardless of which career path I go, a CSU Global MBA would be the framework that gets me there. Like most of other undergraduates ' college experiences, I had some difficulties and hiccups along the way. However, I have never had to withdraw from any online classes under the fear that I might fail. My grades suffered due to a few different reasons, which in retrospect were blessings. At the time I …show more content…
A goal that I am prepared to accomplish because of the lesions taught to me in my undergraduate career as a student athlete and also in my post college career as an employee who excelled in different fields. Not all of these lesions did I learn in a classroom or did I learn them by even accomplishing the task at hand, my organizational skills, efficiency and discipline are all skills I learned by failing at certain goals. As proven I have the ability to learn from failure, weather it be not achieving the grades I was capable of or not securing employment in a chosen field. Each of the lesions has prepared me to achieve my goal of getting an MBA from CSU. I have faced adversity in the classroom and in the work place, I know how to handle because of my past and will be able to thrive when I face it again. Those lesions learned partnered with my support staff has put me in a perfect position to get an MBA from
