“A flooding sea of hot air; it seemed as if someone had left a bakery door open”. A line from The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury. A motif is like when someone says describe the text in one word. Authors like to use motifs to help with the theme of the story. In The Martian Chronicles there was three motifs: courage, discovery, and death. Courage was the most prevalent motif throughout the entire book. Courage is doing something even if it frightens someone. All the men from earth had courage. To start with, that men kept going to Mars; this showed courage because they know that the crew before them had something bad happen. Also, they were going to a plant millions of miles away from Earth to see if the there was any life form on Mars. Nathaniel York was the first to go to Mars, after him was Captain Williams and his crew. Williams and his crew went to Mrs. Ttt, who is the first Martian they saw. Mr. Ttt, send them to Mr. Aaa, who then sent them to Mr. Xxx, who gave them a key. The key was to a mental house where Mr. Uuu, talked to them. The men never stopping their missions and another example is how Captain Williams and his crew kept go to the house …show more content…
Discovery is when a person fined something new that wasn’t known before. A big discovery was that there was Martians on this new planet. One of the first character that was introduced was Mrs. T, Mr. T, and Nathaniel York. Mr. and Mrs. T, are both Martians who live on Mars. Another discovery is the men from Earth to the Martians. Each time a crew would come to Mars, they meet new people: Martians. An example is in one expedition the Martians looked like copies of the crew’s love ones who have died on earth. All the crews meet different people, one expedition the Martians looked like the crew’s die love ones. In a way both people made the discovery of new people: Martians and men from Earth.
