An article titled, How Reading Makes Us More Human”, the author stated, “As I relayed in my literary and spiritual memoir, the books I have read over a lifetime have shaped my worldview, my beliefs, and my life as much as anything else” (Prior). Karen Swallow Prior’s experience with books is much like mine. She denotes that the matter of her reading literary works have shaped and developed her thoughts and her worldview by intellectually experiencing everything that the characters have, through their stories. Whether the books had a moral point or just went through an impossible amount of ups and downs, she feels that she has gained many different things on a personal level from different stories. I absolutely agree with Prior and I believe that literature has had the same impact on my life and the way that I see things after I’ve read specific stories and connected with characters. Reading is a strong passion and hobby of mine. I can easily say that I read books more than I watch TV, because of the outcome it provides. Literature is a big part of my life and has benefited me in many ways over the times that I have been avidly reading. It has increased my vocabulary, and my awareness and knowledge about important life situations that has helped me form my own opinions by guiding what I thought I knew, to more information. Literature is always being recreated and produced in many different ways and ideas. It is a foundation of life that has the ability to teach people about life situations and scenarios in which are entirely accurate.
