Through this project, I want to satisfy my curiosity about the relationship in learning tendencies that could be related to brain functions. Specifically, in my informational video product, my video will be successful if it includes an introduction and provides detailed footage of precisely how I conducted my experiments so even the least scientifically knowledgeable viewer can understand the context and process of my project. Also, the viewers should be able to understand what results I have gotten from the experiments and what I could infer from them. In my lab report, I will include at least 1 experiment about what kind of learning modality the person has, and at least three research papers as a reference in the science literature review section. Having as many research papers as references as possible will help me have a variety of perspectives and an open mind for the results. As well as meeting my supervisor every week and having discussions about the project, I have set deadlines that I should meet throughout the project in order to do the work step by step, and not being short of time. Since I spent a lot of time setting the exact research question though it was as doing research, I had to set deadlines thoughtfully in order to do each of the process in time. The specific deadlines [S1] that I have set are mentioned in the Process Journal extracts in the Appendix section. As also mentioned in the Process Journal extracts, I have developed self-management skills[S2] throughout the project. Though at first I was not good at meeting the deadlines precisely, I have reflected such parts and mentioned it in the process journal well so that I will not make the same mistakes again. Therefore, I could make myself aware of improving in meeting the deadlines such as working on more Time-Management skills as well as setting appropriate amount of work in each milestones. The experiments are about if one is good at reading or writing as receiving information, listening, looking at visual materials, or kinesthetic ways such as moving in action. …show more content…
These utilize Neil Fleming’s VARK model that classifies people into visual, auditory, reading or writing, and kinesthetic learners. (Cherry, Kendra) I will look for connections between the types of learners and the handedness of my study participants. As the independent variable for all the experiments is handedness, and the dependent variable is the number of keywords for the reading test, number of activities going on in the picture for the visual test, number of keywords in the audio listening test, and number of movements for the kinesthetic test that the participants will get. The hypothesis for the reading test is that because the left side of the brain is known to more likely have a dominance in language, right handers would get more keywords due to the crossing of the nerves from the brain, which makes the left side of the brain more dominant for right handers. (Decussation). The hypothesis for the listening test is the same as the reading test since listening is also related to language. Hypothesis for the visual test is that left-handers could be better because the right brain is more likely to be dominant in images.
