One of the laws mentioned in the text that was put in place to help students with disabilities is the Education for All Handicapped Children Act of 1975. While all of the acts mentioned have a purpose of helping those with disabilities, this is one of my favorites. This act made sure that all students with disabilities have access to a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). This act ensured that there was adequate access to all public buildings. It was applied to schools and other public buildings. One thing I read that I did not know prior is that this law is believed to have created a foundation for both the IDEA and the Americans with Disabilities Act which are also two very essential laws that have shaped how students with disabilities are treated in education. This act states that no student with a disability should be excluded from participation, be denied benefits or be discriminated against. One thing that I really like about this act is students who have things like ADHD, asthma, allergies, cancer, epilepsy, etc., can be supported by it.
