Poor academic grades, problems with the English language, pregnancy, drugs, gangs, and needing to work to support family are some of the biggest reasons students drop out of school. Dropping out of school increases a child’s chances of being incarcerated and decreases their chances of earning a livable wages. Some children age going to drop out no matter what is done to try to keep them in school, but there are things that can be done to help the ones that want to stay in school. For those who need to work to help support their family, a half school/half work day or an option for them to take high school classes mostly online or at night will help them get a high school diploma while earning money for their family. These same options would help a pregnant teen or young mother along with free or subsidized childcare during their schooling time.
