Gogo is a masculine name that was popularized since the middle ages in the German culture. Gogo is my global villager, who happens to be a 60 year old male. Germans can speak several languages based on their regional dialects. Gogo is trilingual in three languages; German, Russian and English. The first aspect of communication that I will apply here is Masculinity Versus Femininity (Jandt 167). Germany is labeled as a masculine culture where men are expected to be tough, assertive, supportive, decisive and showing high performance in managing tasks. Germany has a variety of schools that children get separated into when old enough, to practice and become familiar with what is expected of them based on gender roles. It is commonly known as a patriarchal society allowing men the authority to lead and become the proprietor of the family while women take on the role of becoming a housewife and express emotions of tenderness and compassion. When interacting with others, Gogo appreciates an intelligent conversation. Germany’s communication styles contain many aspects of communication such as a low-context culture (Jandt 49). They tend to heed of wary when unfamiliar ideas or uncertainty comes up but pay less attention to nonverbal cues and body language. The verbal message becomes more important than the social surroundings of the message. This means that the nonverbal message is essentially less important than it would be in a high-context culture. This reasoning also pertains to why it is uncommon to see gift-giving or exchanging practices in Germany. Germans are very direct with their words and speak with an open mind. Due to this, most of German’s communication comes from verbal messages. Verbal communication shapes and places a good image on ones reputation if communication skills are applied in an accepting manner. Verbal messages connect with the communication concept of Identity and Subgroups (Jandt 337). Verbal communication is also associated with the aspect of a low-context culture in terms of how well Gogo can attain his communication skills with others since nonverbal messages do not seem to contribute and be vastly noticed within the German culture. However, there are elements of nonverbal communication that rely greatly on the communication styles of Germany. Verbal communication has directive rules when sending a verbal a message to the receiver. It contains argon and slang language that is used and known by the public in all regions and accepted in communication. If Gogo wishes to make a phone call, he must relate himself by surname and make sure that his timing is convenient for the receiver by not calling if it’s late unless consent was given. When roaming the streets, Gogo expects to hear formality usage in stranger and acquaintance surnames such as “Mrs.” and “Mr.” Otherwise, he may use the first name to address a close friends or a family member. The majority of the German culture is reserved, sincere and unambiguous. Germans like to feel understood when interacting with someone; this means that a formed subgroup of shared beliefs and values is developed. Intellectual conversations have protocols that one must follow to achieve respect and praise when communicating with others. Gestures and nonverbal communication (Jandt 102) plays an important role in German business communication.

The German business culture is generally strict, well- defined, and managed with responsibilities. When communicating in a business working environment, there are several behaviors one must follow to show respect while interacting. Gogo must remain reserved, serious, and punctual. Expressing emotions is considered to be unprofessional in public, therefore are mainly kept between family and close friends. Gogo is aware that when he initiates a conversation with a colleague or co-worker, he may not place his hands in his pockets, or place his feet on the furniture as it shows utter disrespect. The most typical form of greeting someone is a handshake. In business meetings, Germans will shake hands before and after the meeting, but will not shake hands while crossing someone else; as it is inappropriate and rude. Sensitivity and awareness about ones actions is highly expected as it displays proper discipline and respect for those around you. The next leap of communication
