Throughout the day we all mostly put out our energy and cleaned up the trail. Though it was a lot of hard work what really impacted me was that there is not a lot of trash it’s all green and beautiful. Also the grass that was cut out was not thrown away instead it was put somewhere else so that it later could help the grass around it. It was good to see that there were other volunteers helping too doing different things. One of the workers that was helping out too told us how they go every day and try to maintain the trail and the center itself. This experience showed me how even a small amount of people can help our city, Laredo, become better and help historical landmarks be beautiful up to today. In my perspective, civic ecology seems more of a traditionalistic subculture this is because our state has a lot of tradition and I think keeping historic places adds to the tradition. The LBVESC could be called an interest group because they have a lot of events and volunteer service with a very strong purpose. Also Keep Laredo Beautiful is another interest group that focuses on the environment in our city. I knew what I was going to do on Saturday, but I have to admit that it was challenging and the next day I was sore from the heavy work. This made me realized that our community should be more engage and try to fulfill the meaning of civic ecology. I did not know about Paso del Indio until the presentation in our class and it is a beautiful trail. It is very easy to go and have a tour and see the trail the beautiful nature also look at the animals and just have a good time, but we do not normally stop and think about the maintenance it takes to keep it beautiful. Paso del Indio is a sustainability project because somehow there are people that want that trail and go and volunteer to help it stay beautiful. Four hours was not enough and it takes a lot of time, but I saw that even a small amount of time makes a great difference. Having civic ecology contributes to citizenship because we are part of this country and just like we take pride in being an American we should also take that pride and help our surroundings to be beautiful, that way when visitors come and
