However, there are still theories that support the authoritarian method of leading. Under authoritarian leadership, subordinates are told what to do with little to no ability to add any input of their own. These leaders are generally strict, demanding, and are not open to others ' opinions. Authoritarian leadership is appropriate in settings where there are constant streams of new employees, limited decision-making time or resources, and the need for large-scale coordination with other groups and organizations (Cunningham, Salomone, & Wielgus, 2015). This leading strategy is considered to be the opposite of the group efficiency theory because one person makes all the decisions. To resolve the issue, several researchers presented a large-scale experimental study in order to examine whether individual or team decision making has any influence on coordination failure or success. The results showed that the teams of three subjects each coordinated much more efficiently than individuals. This finding adds one important cornerstone to the recent literature on the conditions for successful coordination (Feri, Irlenbusch, & Sutter, 2009). Also, in a webinar done by Michael McIntosh, he presents several methods on how to maximize team performance in the workplace. The speaker covers topics such as how to create and strengthen team synergies for improved collaboration and productivity, communicate effectively, with optimized outcomes and a minimum of stress, and how to build trust, respect and collaboration amongst coworkers (McIntosh, 2016). While effective in certain situations, there are also many instances where authoritarian leadership can be problematic. People who abuse this leadership style are often viewed as bossy, controlling and dictatorial, which can lead to resentment amongst coworkers and employees. Also, since authoritarian leaders tend to make decisions on their own without consulting others, people in the group may dislike that they are unable to contribute ideas. Failing to consult with other team members in organizational situations hurts the overall success of the group. Researchers have also found that this form of leading often results in a lack of creative solutions to problems, which can ultimately hurt the group from performing (Cherry, 2016). Likewise, there are also flaws to working as a team; a team is only helpful if they are efficient. Unlike authoritarian, teams require various people in the organization working together towards a common goal. Teams usually fail if they constantly disagree with each other or if someone does not contribute as much as others thus leading to resentment (Sravani, 2015). Also, a
