It is clear that it is an abuse of power, because for the government to use surveillance to watch people, it is invading personal privacy in every way. Furthermore the government is violating the 4th amendment in multiple ways. Lastly, the U.S. is supposed to be ruled by the people, and this would be the opposite of that entirely. In no way is the government using surveillance to maintain order okay in any country, much less the U.S., the land of the free. It would not be very free if you were being watched all the time.
