XIII. Not all fats are created, you have your good, your bad, and the in between. Everybody needs some sort of fat from food, because, fat does have benefits in certain extents. It 's a key source of energy, helping absorb vitamins and minerals, it also helps build cell membranes, and the cases surrounding nerves. It is needed for blood clotting, muscle movement, and inflammation. There are categories that would be suitable as being important for your health, and which are not. Good fats include monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, unsaturated is typically the good kind of fat. Bad fats include industrial-made trans-fats. Then you have the saturated fats that fall somewhere in between. (Harvard, 2015). Unsaturated fats include polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats. Food items including these two fats are fish, certain nuts, olives and certain oils. Saturated fat arises from animal products and many dairy products. Trans-fats are created in a manufacturing process, to where companies add hydrogen to oils or butter to make them more solid. Such fats can be found in fried foods, pizza, desserts, food that should typically be out of a healthy diet. According to the American Heart Association, unsaturated fats can replace trans-fat and saturated fat to advance your cholesterol, if saturated fat comes into the diet it should be limited to only 5-6 percent of total daily calories, and trans-fat should be avoided, especially when labels say partially hydrogenated oils. (American Heart Association, 2016). Many women find themselves wondering why it’s harder for themselves to shed off fat compared to men who lose it easier, and there are different reasons as to why. According to research medical students in Georgetown University, reproduction and fertility is one source of why women store fat differently from men, as quoted, “Women bear higher nutrient costs during reproduction. Fat and fertility are linked in women, through leptin. Low leptin levels reduce fertility. Ovarian function of adult women is associated with their fatness at birth. In our evolutionary past food insecurity was a frequent occurrence. We suggest that the pattern of central obesity, more commonly seen in men, is not adaptive, but rather reflects the genetic drift hypothesis of human susceptibility to obesity.” (Power and Schulkin, 2008). Physiologically a woman’s body is biologically designed to prepare for conceiving a developing baby, fat deposits help women do just that. Essentially the developing child will pick the nutrients up from certain types of …show more content…
Although many people will have the excuses of not being able to afford health care, perhaps big companies and employers should set aside a minimum budget for an average of employees who can’t afford health care so that perhaps, with the annual budget saved up, a health care provider can come to the workplace once a year, and provide screenings for employees. Another way employers may help, is just as the idea of 401K, for those not interested in paying for health care, if employers can convince the employee to take a small portion even 1% of their income aside into a healthcare saving, to at least obtain one annual physical, that is a step forward into people being more conscious of their health, and what they can do to improve
