The Hunger Games series includes 3 action adventure novels all written by Suzanne Collins. The first book in this trilogy is the one my book report is based on, titled The Hunger Games. The book was published by Scholastic and released on September 14, 2008. The 374 page book has captured the attention of young teens as well as adults. The book was a bestseller upon its release and a film adaption was introduced to the general public in 2012.

Suzanne made the book easy to understand and visualize what was going on by using just the right amount of detail, especially when explaining The Hunger Games arena.

I didn't like how slow the book started. It was a little confusing at the start, when Katniss and Gabe kept talking about the ‘reping’. I had no idea what the reaping was until around the 3rd or 4th chapter. Also Cato’s team in the games consisted of Peeta. At this point in the novel Katniss thought that Peeta was turning on her, by telling Catos group where she was but little did Peeta know they were just using him until they found her. I didn't understand how once they found Katniss they didn't kill Peeta like they said they
