In this journal entry, I will try to summarize the entire article and then start again from the beginning to describe each important point. I will also share my thoughts and personal opinion on each important topic. I have chosen the article with the title "Life After Death" written by William L. Rowe and taken from the publication Philosophy of Religion. As a whole, I would say that this article is a balanced and informative piece on the arguments for and against an after- life. The article even goes on to show the arguments on what, if there is an afterlife, that might be like. It talks a little bit about what that might mean for our souls. The author goes on talk about a séance. What is interesting about this particular case though is that the soul that was being contacted was of no relation to the person communicating with the spritual medium. The medium was given very little information about the man who died. His identity was kept secret but still the medium was able to give details about the bizzare way in which the man died. The brothers of the man who died used several mediums and were also able to find out from them detailed descriptions about the nature of the man's work on earth. He was an inventor and the medium was able to go into detail about a machine that she otherwise couldn't possibly have known anything about. The brothers of the deceased man did everything that they could to make sure that these mediums were not lying or faking their abilities. Even still, they were able to somehow learn things that only the deceased man and his family might know. This was the only example given of a scientific argument of life after death.

The final case for the afterlife given in this article is the theological argument. This basically says that God exists and created people to exist with him in the afterlife. I believe in God and I believe that there is a life after this but what that life may be like there is no way to know until we are actually

If we cease to exist at physical death, then it would be the same as to never existing in the first place. It is therefore likely that survival is possible after death based on religious beliefs and through the development of science and medical methods. According to the whole-brain standard, a human death refers to the irreversible cessation of functioning of the entire brain, including the brainstem. Survival, on the other hand, can be defined as to continue to exist when ending looked certain. Survival of Julia in Julia/Mary case shows that survival is possible after death.…

    (i) Memory theory suggests that genuine memory relations constitute Personal Identity . In its initial form, memory relations are created when a person establishes some form of extension in conscious activity within the mind. However, memory gaps can be factored in and despite being the same person, people can sometimes forget an event in the past that links each person to being one and the same . As such, the remedy to this problem is to introduce the idea of a chain of memory connections. Person n (n being the n-th term…1,2,3,4, infinity, etc.) and Person 1 are memory connected if there is a stage in the chain containing at least one memory of something experienced by the preceding person-stage (Pn) and time (Tn).…
