He was buried with some of the rewards that he received along his 3 journeys, (as he requested) and his heroic stories still lived on.
After reading this story, the reader could easily come up with the conclusion that Beowulf was an extraordinary and brave hero. The full version of the Beowulf story also tells how he was worthy at even a young age to have the labels that he had before and after he began to engage in brave actions such as slaying dragons and demons. There are more parts of the story that depicted the bravery of Beowulf such as how he fought Gilard with his bare hands and managed to tear off his body parts. Also, how he was brave enough to go against the dragon alone instead of putting the lives of his people in danger.
As far as the similarities between both stories, Sir Gawain and Beowulf are courageous warriors. As mentioned before, Sir Gawain was brave enough to still go to the Green Chapel to follow the rules of the game that he agreed to play with the Green Knight. He also was the only one that volunteered in the king 's place to play the game that the Green Knight offered. As mentioned before, Beowulf chose to risk his life in order to save the citizens of Geatland. Sir Gawain technically risked his life for the king because even though he didn’t believe that the Green Knight was going to be capable of coming back to life and chopping his head off in return, he still played the game. In addition, he actually went on the journey to find the Green Knight at the green chapel in order to have his head chopped off like he promised initially so he is a man of his word.
The last of the similarities that could be pointed out between both stories is the fact that magic is used in both of them. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, the green girdle was magical because it had the ability to make the wearer invincible and unable to die. The fact that the Green Knight was able to transform from himself into the lord of the chapel could also be put into this category. In Beowulf, the magical sword that he found in the place that Gillard 's mother dragged him to could be put in this category by the reason that it just so happened to be the only sword that had the ability to defeat
