The health and fitness industries are constantly transforming and improving. He realized that it is imperative to educate people about how to properly eat and exercise. Moreover, he understood that most people need to exercise, but often times refrain from doing so, or they easily give up, due to the lack of proper training programs available. Richardson acknowledged it was time to do something. It was time to revolutionize the fitness industry.
Upon his return to the Houston area, Richardson soon realized that Houstonians were tired of the same old workout routines, or the fitness clubs that specialize in just one type of classes; for example, yoga studios, CrossFit clubs, Zumba studios, etc. He wanted to enter this market with a strong and unique strategy, a “blue ocean strategy.”
According to the class lecture, a blue ocean strategy is a strategy chosen by a company that wants to enter a new market with an innovating technology. The opportunities for the chosen market to expand and grow are vast as the oceans themselves. Only highly qualified and trained instructors make the exclusive staff at this very trendy company composed of four studios in the Houston greater area and several franchise locations. For the four studio locations in the greater Houston area, the process of training instructors is handled by Henry Richardson, CEO and founder. Because the training program is developed in a way that will challenge the instructor trainee’s own fitness level, it could take anywhere from three to twelve weeks for any participant to finish the program.
