When great whites are young, they feed on fish and rays. However, when they grow older their main prey are mammals, including seals and small whales. Great whites have not suddenly started craving human. There are many survivors of attacks that would tell you so. Similarly, the domestic cat’s diet has not changed due to us feeding them. Cats still need a high proportion of protein and organ meat in their diet. Dry cat food, sadly, approximates their dietary needs. But, like great whites, cats are hunters. They’ll hunt chipmunks, squirrels, and birds if they have to. Furthermore, like sharks, cats have not had the desire to feast on human, to our knowledge. Overall, both their diets have not changed due to us, unlike sycophantic dogs.
By way of contrast, we have had an effect on the diets of other animals. For example: dogs. Dogs have evolved to be able to be with humans by eating more carbohydrates. Part of the domestication of the wolf was a genetic change, recently found, that enables dogs to process carbohydrate. Thought to be from rummaging around in people’s garbage.
