Lord Stanley, bought a 7” high and 11” wide silver cup (the Stanley Cup) what had cost 10 guineas. (What is $50) In 1926 the Stanley cup became the national trophy for the national hockey league. He donated the Stanley cup because of that he thought that there should be a challenge cup for the league. The first Stanley cup was play on March 22 1894, and it was played in Montreal. The cup was won and give to the Montreal AAA with their defeat over the Ottawa generals. Lord Stanley was born on the 15th of January of 1841, and he died on 14th of June of 1908.

The Great War was also called as World War 1. Nine million people died on the battle field in the war. The Canadian light infantry were made by an idea of Andrew Hamilton Gault, and Lieutenant Colonel Francis Farquhar. Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry was involved in five major battles. On the 10th of August of 1914 was made. Canada was alliance with the British Empire, Serbia, Russia, and France against the German and Austro-Hungarian empires during the Great War. The explosion happen at the morning of June 19th 1914. There were 237 mine that went to work. After the explosion only 46 of them made it out alive. It was so big of explosion and the gas that were release it was not safe above the ground. The explosion destroyed the 20cm thick concrete wall that divide the hoist house. The explosions had made oxygen, while also have the poisonous carbon dioxide gas in the air. They had called the gas, “blackdamp” or “afterdamp” explosion in mine are all different then out in the open. It is such a small place and there are very many people in there.
