The Great Gatsby The Great Gatsby is a great American novel that was published on April 10,1925. It was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald (Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald). It falls under the fiction genre, however, the book is written very realistically and reflects many of the events that occurred in Fitzgerald’s own life as well as many of his opinions and characteristics. Fitzgerald was born on September 24, 1896 in St. Paul Minnesota. His parents were Edward Fitzgerald and Mary McQuillan. Mary worked as a grocer while Edward became a salesman for Procter & Gamble after failing to be successful at producing and selling furniture. F. Scott Fitzgerald was born into a Catholic family that had strong, old, southern values and as a result
