"Oh, you want too much!" She cried to Gatsby. “I loved Tom at one point in time, but that doesn 't change the fact that I have always loved you, Gatsby."
Tom looked at his wife and was beyond shocked. He could not understand not getting his way, so he was left completely startled. “Daisy you’re not being serious" he said with utter sincerity.
"Yes Tom, I am. How could I possibly be in love with the man who doesn 't even seem to care about me? You have been seeing a lady for who knows how long, with no regard to my feelings. How could this be love? We fell out of love a long time ago." Everyone in the room was dead silent. Jordan and I looked back and forth between the three. Tom looked angry with disgust. Daisy seemed somewhat sad, but mostly relieved. Gatsby looked completely joyous. The silence didn 't last long enough and soon Gatsby spoke up. “Your wife does not love you anymore, and she doesn’t want to be with you either. She wants to be with me, old sport.” “Don’t you tell me what Daisy wants and doesn’t want. I am her husband, and she is not leaving me for some bootlegger like you!” He yelled out. Their argument was soon interrupted by Daisy. “Both of you stop!” She said to the men. “This is my decision to make, not yours. I am leaving you Tom, and I’m going to be with Gatsby whether you like it or not.” At that moment Tom leaped up out of his seat, heading straight towards Gatsby. "Listen here, old sport." He said mocking Gatsby. "I am not going to lose anything to you.” Tom grabbed him by the collar, and Gatsby shoved him off. He Looked at Daisy, then Jordan, and finally me and he said "I think it 's time to leave." Grabbing Daisy 's hand he walked out of the room with all three of us, and left Tom all by himself. I led them to where Tom had previously parked the car. Once it was insight we were all eager to get in and leave. The ride home was all well and fine until familiar coupe was following behind us. Tom followed us for a bit longer after the …show more content…
She then walked down the porch steps heading to where the cab would pick her up. Once there she looked back, giving me a quick glance and smile, before entering the vehicle. Maybe I should have gone after her, but I didn’t. I let her go along with any of the feelings I had for her. After that I never heard from or have spoken to Jordan Baker again.
The next year I received an invitation for a wedding. Gatsby and Daisy were getting married. I stayed in touch with them over the past year, and I 'm glad I did. They told me what had happened to Tom and I wasn 't at all surprised. Apparently that night after going to the Wilson 's he took Myrtle, and they 've been happy ever since. Myrtle divorced her husband, and is now engaged to Tom.
When I left West egg I decided not to go too far, so I stayed in New York. Not being able to decide where to stay, I traveled all over. Finally I made up my mind and decided to stay in Albany. There was no real smart reason behind it. No it was not for an amazing job, nor did I get an unbelievably good deal on a house, and I hadn 't made any great friends yet. It just felt right, like my home. I knew it was where I
