In the beginning of ¨The Giver¨ by Lois Lowry, Jonas makes a choice, a decision, to bring an apple home, because he noticed a difference. For some reason, Jonas was the only one to notice this difference in the apple. Jonas made this choice knowing full well that sneaking a apple home, probably was against the rules. Therefore, there was a consequence, not a serious talk to him, or physical ¨talk¨, but an announcement to the WHOLE community that it is punishable for any snack, such as an apple, to be taken home { Lowry 3 }. …show more content…
Of course, Jonas has been trained to follow the rules, like a dog, all his life, but this was different, he had broken the rules before. A positive out come for Jonas, deciding not to tell people is the smartest choice he has made, if the people found out about the community, it would be chaos for eternity. Another choice, Jonas rules stated clearly that he was aloud to lie. He could've told one of his friends what was going on in training, but he didn´t, for the sake of the rules. { Lowry 10
