Even though both selections take place in different time periods they both include supernatural aspects. In Poe’s piece the supernatural aspect was that Roderick’s sister, Madeline, returned from the dead after she was buried alive. In Nathan’s piece supernatural actions take place throughout the whole story but each action stems from the vampire, and the vampire itself was the main supernatural entity. In “ Sunbleached” the take upon horror is more exaggerated because everyone knows that vampires are not real.In contrast Poe’s take on horror is more realistic and arguably more terrifying. …show more content…
In “ The Fall of the House of Usher” the violence took place when Roderick buried his sick sister that was still alive. In “ Sunbleached” the harmful factor was that the vampire killed Joshua’s mom,hung his brother upside down from his ankles, and the vampire put Joshua on the roof to burn alive.
