This essay discuses what the way of expression when authors or poets illustrate abstract words which like power and death in their literature, power and death are very difficult to describe, but we always can perceive in our life. As we know, an article or a poem is always illustrated a lot of rhetoric to show authors’ or poets’ ideas, and the rhetoric makes readers to understand the literature easily and when readers read the literature, they feel the content is elegant. Death and power are virtual but they are real existence, people always have many taboos to talk about death and power. Therefore, for the literature, no matter about what kind of methods of rhetoric because the rhetoric is an important skill in the academic environment and the attract readers. For the definitions content of academic writing, which are not intuitive, are difficult to explain due to some factors. Whether the writers prefer to illustrate directly or not, if the literature can easily attract readers and let reader understand writers’ main ideas clear, the methods of rhetoric are successful. Therefore, when we analyze an academic writing, to understand the rhetoric of the literature is important, the rhetoric do not have good or bad, it just based on how the authors or poets
