Animal extinction has reached an all time high in recent years. Scientist believes that animal extinction as “one of the biggest environmental threats to the planet.”() Although there are many accusations of what this cause may be, there is an understanding that human interaction is a key factor when it comes to the extinction of animals. Human’s interactions have increased over the past few decades both good and bad. This threat has evolved from a local to a global scale. Scientists have predicted that “50 percent of all species may be lost during the 21st century” ()unless some effort to protect animals from extinction is made. In fact, an impact at this scale could interfere with the worlds growing population effort to feed and heal its …show more content…
Scientist says that if the Earth were to take on a major loss of one of its animal population it can bring upon permanent “changes to the planets dominant species.”( )A major loss could causes humans to alter their way of life including food supplies, medical breakthroughs, and even the weather. In the US, “environmentalist” () seeks help from the government to take immediate steps to halt extinction. But Congress has a difficult time coming to a consensus with the Endangered Species Act. In fact, business leaders say “that the nation should focus on economic growth instead of setting aside habitat for species that are so similar to one another that the loss of some will have no discernible impact.”() By understanding the historical impact of animal conservation and benefits that animals provide for humans, people can see the importance of forming organizations and making an effort to conserve the Earth’s
