Most of the time, people walk into elevators without making eye contact or any gestures towards another person. A closer look showed that even two people, who were having a conversation while waiting for the elevator, ceased to speak once they began their descent to the ground floor or their ascent to the upper levels. If their conversation did not cease completely, it went on in hushed tones, so as not to disturb the silence in the elevator. Individuals try their best to not invade others personal space, as well. If there are two people in an elevator, they tend to stand on opposite ends of each other. As the number of individuals increases, people tend to shift around and move closer to the walls in order to be as far away from each other as possible.
