This document should receive the 20 minutes of airtime. Oil in Texas was not only affecting the individual person it was breaking apart families. This is a very big social change because the once happy families of Permian Basin are being torn apart. Divorces are becoming more popular in the area because men are now spending longer, harder hours at their jobs leaving their wives to take care of the house and children all by themselves. Since the men spent long hours working they became closer to their co-workers they would sometimes act too crazy and embarrass their wives. When oil was found the state decided to try and find oil on the land. Luckily, tons of oil was being produced every day which came to a total profit of $4.4 billion. This huge profit made the legislators donate another million acres to the school. The money made off of selling the oil went to the school, thus allowed the school to be built and opened. The social change is that with the opening of the university more people could go to school and get an education. This ment the uneducated people of Texas could now become educated and have a better chance of getting good jobs. This document (A) needs to be excluded because the social change was not very big. People had still been going to school and getting good jobs way before The University of Texas. All UT did was allow for education to happen. The radio show does not need to include this
