In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, two star-crossed lovers named Romeo and Juliet take their love to a whole new level which leads to their death. Romeo and Juliet can’t always be together because Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet, the problem is that the Capulets and the Montagues don’t get along very well. This story took place in the 1300’s in the city of Verona, Italy. We as readers can see that the play had three citizens named Capulet, Friar Lawrence, and the Nurse make decisions that cause the death of Romeo and Juliet.

One piece of evidence to show why Friar Lawrence is to blame is stated like this, “But come on, inconsistent young man, come with me. I’ll help you with your secret wedding. This marriage may be lucky enough to turn the hatred between your families into pure love.” (2:5 lines 94-97) This quote shows us that Friar Lawrence isn’t being a “holy” man as he is referred to by the citizens of Verona, Italy, we readers can infer this because on the previous quote he says, “This marriage may be lucky enough to turn the hatred between your families into pure love.” This quote shows how Friar Lawrence is referring to Romeo and Juliet because they’re both from different families who had some difficult past experiences, and they usually did not get along with each other. Another piece of evidence to show why Friar Lawrence is to blame is stated like this, “Hold on, daughter, I see some hope. But we must act boldly because the situation is so desperate. If you’ve made up your mind to kill yourself instead of marrying that Count Paris, then your probably be willing to try something like death to solve this shameful problem.You can wrestle with death to escape from shame. And if you dare to do it. I’ll give you the solution.” (4:1 lines 69-77) This quote shows the readers that he has made another mistake by giving her the death potion and when she took she would be “dead” and she would be buried. In addition another piece of evidence that further strengthens the last one is stated on, (3:3 lines 149-150), “Then you will escape to the city of Mantua, where you’ll live until we can make marriage public and make peace between your families.” This quote makes it even more noticeable that Friar Lawrence made another mistake because when Friar Lawrence send Friar John who was supposed to get the letter to Romeo,
